The 3rd Seminar of Academic Exchange Program for Graduate Students between School of Social Development and Public Policy, Beijing Normal University and School of Social Welfare, Soongsil University

The School of Social Development and Public Policy (SSDPP) held its 3rd Seminar of Academic Exchange Program for Graduate Students from December 4thto December 5th2015. This program is launched in 2013 in SSDPP, and the 2nd seminar was successfully held in the School of Social Welfare (SSW) at the Soongsil University last year in Seoul. It is an academic exchange program for graduate students from SSDPP and SSW.

In charge of the welcome speech was Professor Qiang ZHANG, Professor Yoo Tae kyun from Soongsil University and Professor Fangmeng Tian. The Soongsil students were composed of four teams. The 1st team and 2nd team represented panel I. The 1st team included Choi,Hyunouk, Agudamu, and Lee,Jihun who talked about A comparative research on the distributive justice of Korea and China:Do the college students of the 2 countries have different distributive justice value?. The 2nd team was Kim,Jaok, Ko,Kwiyem, and Oh,Neulbom. They presented A study on Factors Affecting the Companies to Determine the Implementation of Obligatory Employment for the Person with Disability.

Also two Chinese students and four international students of SSDPP presented during the first seminar day.Sushma Dhital from Nepal discussed the Migration, Ageing and Spousal Separation: A Review of Current Population Trend in Nepal and Samuel Kerkula Goteh from Liberia illustrated the Perception/Intentions of Return Amongst International African Students in Beijing. The Chinese student Min Gao presented the topic ofIdeal and Reality: A Decomposition Analysis of the Elderly Living Will and Practical Choice Differences.

On December 5th, when panel II took place, the team consisting of Yun Seongwon, Park Saeyeon, and Park Sohyun discussed their first topic A study on the Differences between Social Service Eligible and Non-Eligible Classes in terms of Service Needs and utilization Characteristics. Afterwards Matsuda Ikuno, and KohEunjee stated the Research of the Effect of Social Service User’s Perceived Adequacy of Cost on Service Satisfaction Focusing on the user of Community Service Investment.

From SSDPP side, Mariana Baptista from Portugal showcased Maid in China: Experiences of Filipina Domestic Workers in China: Contract Negotiation and Enforcement and Eszter Knyihar from Hungary presented Chinese Diaspora in Hungary: A comparative study of social integration between the first and second generation Chinese migrants in Hungary. Lastly, a Chinese student, Yaoqi Wang talked about An Applied Study in Community Pension Service by Using Time Bank Model: A Case study in Tianyuan Community in Luoyang City. After the presentation each professor gave their commentbased on students’ presentation and discussion.

During the seminar, students from SSDPP and SSW had the opportunity to participate and ask questions and receive answers. After the seminar the Soongsil University students were able to tour Beijing and get a taste of the culture here. The significance of this program is that the students are able to exchange valuable research ideas and knowledge.
