The Launching Ceremony and First Symposium of SSDPP's Social Work Practice Center Successfully Convened

    The launching ceremony and first symposium of SSDPP's Social Work Practice Center was successfully convened in Rm.2030 of the North Main Building at 9:00 on May 15. Director of Graduate Work Department Ying Zhongzheng, Executive Deputy Director of Student Counseling and Service Center Hu Zhifeng, President of School of Social Development and Public Policy (SSDPP) Hu Yuebin, SSDPP’s Party Branch Secretary Tian Donghua as well as some teachers and students of the Social Development and Public Policy attended the launching ceremony.

       At the beginning of the launching ceremony, Teacher Tian Donghua, SSDPP’s Party Branch Secretary announced the "Decision on the Establishment of the Social Work Practice Center".

After that, Teacher Jiang Haiyan introduced the work content, service projects and development prospect of the Social Work Practice Center, and expressed warm welcome to valuable comments and suggestions from teachers and students on the construction of the Social Work Practice Center.

Upon learning the founding of SSDPP’s Social Work Practice Center, Executive Deputy Director of Student Counseling and Service Center Hu Zhifeng expressed her warm congratulations and her willingness to cooperatewith the Social Work Practice Center.

Then, Director Ying Zhongzheng affirmed the positive significance of the founding of the Social Work Practice Center from the perspective of students work and expressed his support for the Social Work Practice Center and great expectations on future development of the center as well. After that, Teacher Ying Zhongzheng and Teacher Tian Donghua jointly unveiled the nameplate of the center.

At the end of the ceremony, President Xu Yuebin expressed his congratulations to the founding of the Social Work Practice Center and his gratitude to the support of Beijing Normal University for the center on behalf of SSDPP. He said we must take it as a long-term task to promote the development of the Social Work Practice Center and make it a big success, which greatly inspired the teachers and students of SSDPP and enhanced our confidence in the development of the center.

After the ceremony, the teachers paid a visit to the Social Work Practice Center (Rm. 2028, North Main Building). During the visit, the teachers made a lot of constructive suggestions on the setting and service contents of the center.

 　　After the launching ceremony, Senior Adviser Yang Jiazheng of the University of Hong Kong delivered a speech titled "the impact of interparental quarrels on the growth of children", attracting the attention of a large number of teachers and students. Teacher Yang’s rich experience in family therapy and strict academic attitude deeply impressed the participants. After the meeting, Mr. Yang also made valuable suggestions on the future development of the Social Work Practice Center and promised he will provide the greatest professional technical support for the center.

Annex: A Brief Introduction to the Social Work Practice Center

With the purpose to improve SSDPP’s capability in social work teaching and research, closely combined with students’ work, the Social Work Practice Center of SSDPP mainly serves SSDPP’s teachers and students and strives to combine the services with professional training and research support. The services include support for students’ livelihood and learning and faculty life and work, day-care and development service for staff’s children, development services for masters of social work as well as consulting and social work services for the public. Through case study, group research and seminars, the Social Work Practice Center will strive to improve the faculty’s welfare and sense of belonging to the school. On the basis of serving SSDPP, the center will strive to expand its services to the whole university and society.
