"People's Daily Online": Li Jing, an expert of China National Committee for Disaster Reduction and Professor Zhang Qiang of Beijing Normal University talk about Ya'an earthquake emergency rescue

Abstract On April 20, Li Jing, a member of Expert Board of National Committee for Disaster Reduction of China and Chairman of Technical Committee of the International Centre for Drought Risk Reduction (ICDRR), and Zhng Qiang, Vice President of School of Social Development and Public Policy of Beijing Normal University and Director of Policy Research Center of the Academy of Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management, Ministry of Civil Affairs and Ministry of Education were invited to deliver a speech themed "Ya'an Earthquake Emergency Rescue" at the Forum on Making the Country Prosperous of People's Daily Online to exchange their views with net citizens. In the interview, the guests said in order to accept a particularly cruel reality in the development, all mankind must reach the consensus that we co-exist with disasters and cannot completely eliminate disasters. Only when we use better ways and tougher policy systems to respond to disasters can we win brighter tomorrow. They hope that we can jointly cope with the disaster and give full play to the initiative of everyone to help the earthquake-stricken areas as much as possible.
