The well-known NBA star Kobe Bryant has a famous saying: Someone will win. Why not me?

At 18:00 on May 20, Beijing Normal University's 30th Postgraduate Men's Basketball League finals between third and fourth places officially opened. The competitors were the Data Statistics Team in blue jersey and the Quanzheshe Team in black T-shirt (Global College, Philosophy College, Social College, and SSDPP). After three victories in group match, with the first place in the groups, Quanzheshe Team was among the top eight teams. After creating their best record in history, the team members were not complacent. Instead, they tried their best and defeated Jingmao Team, the defending champion in the elimination match of the eighth-to-fourth and were among the top four. It is, however, a young team after all, and it was the first time for many of its players to participate in the competition. In the semi-finals, in the face of the experienced team from the Chemical College, despite once leading by nearly 10 points, the Quanzheshe Team was defeated and missed the opportunity for getting a ticket of Qiujiduan. Before today's game, thus, all the team members earnestly summarized lessons, made careful preparation for the game, and vowed to win the third place so as to prove their strength. One and a half hours before the match, the team members were active in warm-up exercises under the leadership of their Captain Zheng Haonan. As rotating players, Lu Jinpeng, Li Shangze and Luo Zhichen were also active and meticulous in making preparations.

After the game started, the Data Stastistics Team took the lead in getting the first point of the game through free throws, and the guys of Quanzhe Team did not seem to be in the state for a game. Li Ruiyuan and Qiao Yan failed to shoot overhead in succession. Pan Yue, the outstanding shooter in the previous game, did not perform well this time and even shot hollow outside the basket. The opponent's performance, however, was stable. They got many opportunities for free throws, and won the first quarter of the game by 7:3. During the interval, our players expressed their loss of competition condition and poor shooting feeling, which had been accompanied in the second quarter of the game. The score once turned to 22:12, and we were 10 points behind the opponent.

After the first half of the game, our team fell into a very difficult situation. The tactics we were proud of were completely out of order. The rim seemed to be covered and it was so difficult for us to shoot it. What's more terrible is that the players didn't show the attitude and spirit of fighting with their opponents. In view of this, as an old player of the team, Xie Qingyan shouted at the players with fierce and very infectious words in an attempt to wake up the sleepwalking players. At the same time, in view of the passive situation, we adjusted the defensive strategy in time, changing the strategy of "two or three for defense" into whole-court defense and man-to-man tactics at half time.

In the second half, after a few rounds, our adjustments on the defensive side played a significant role. The attack efficiency of the opponent decreased significantly and its hand-to-hand cooperation in the first half was almost completely cut off. On the offensive side, we continuously attacked the opponent by increasing the speed. It not only reduced the physical strength of the opponent, but helped us score as soon as possible so as to stabilize the situation and build our confidence. Pan Yue also hit a key half-shot in his "dessert area" in the match, which officially sounded the counter-attack horn of the Quanzheshe Team. Through the players' struggle for every ball right and their full devotion to every attack and defense round, the leading edge of the opponent was losing gradually.

In the fourth quarter of the game, Fu Tianrui and Fan Hao, the substitutes, played an extremely important role. Fan Hao won precious rest and respite time for Liu yingti. Fu Tianrui controlled the rhythm of the game like a sea god needle, which foreshadowed the subsequent counterattack. Our efforts were finally rewarded. With five minutes and 25 seconds left in the game, Wang Yuchen, the core of the team's outside line attacker, suddenly fired from the outside line. After the ball drew a perfect parabola in the air, it steadily entered the frame bag. With this three-point ball as precious as gold, Quanzheshe Team surpassed the score. The opponents did not give up and surrender although they were almost exhausted. Instead, they organized a wave of counterattacks. The two sides fell into a stalemate and the score rose alternately. At this key moment, Liu Yingti competed in the opponent's three-second zone, which was similar to the situation when Uncle Mu had to grab three rebounds in order to get two points. After that, the opponent had to defense. Making good use of this opportunity, Wang Yuchen hit two three points and a fast attach. With this small climax of 8:0, the Data Statistics Team was completely defeated, and the mood of the fans watching the game also reached a climax. The depression of suppressed on the bench broke out and was released instantly, and Quanzheshe Team didn't give the opponent a chance to play foul tactics. With the countdown of lady on the technical stage and the whistle of the referee, the score was finally set at 27:31. Under the unfavorable situation of being 10 points behind for a time, in the absence of Wang Peng, the main guard, and the absence of Qiao Yan, the main front line guard, for half time, Quanzheshe Team finally reversed the situation and won the third place of the 30th Postgraduate Men's Basketball League of Beijing Normal University under heavy pressure.

After the game, the players gathered together and cheered up. For individual players, if they can't understand the tears of sadness and regret after the semi-final defeat, they don't deserve the joy of today's victory. Throughout the whole tournament, the players inherited and carried forward the good tradition of the team. At this moment, they are not fighting alone! So far, I would like to pay tribute to every graduated student who has always been concerned about team building, training, growth and competition, and to the players who have not been able to play this time. I would like to thank our faculty leaders and fans who cheered on the sideline, and to pay tribute to the organizing committee, referees, technical platforms and every opponent who tested our strength!

Former Rockets coach Tom janovich said: Never underestimate the ambition of a championship! I said, since there must be someone to win the championship, why can't it be us? The melody of "We Are the Champions" has, I think, been played quietly in everyone's heart for countless times. Boys, why not sing it out loudly? See you next year, Qiu Ji Duan!
